Obama Cancels “Constellation” Space Project

President Barak Obama has decided to cancel “Constellation”, a $108 billion NASA project planning to send people to the moon by 2020 and Mars by 2030. Obama believed that the project was too costly and lacked innovation. Many are devastated by this act, including the NASA community claiming that it is wrong and puts the country at a disadvantage for future development. It is believed that due to this set back America will no longer be leading in space exploration. It gives Russia and China an advantage meaning that the United States will have to rely on Russia and China, its competitors, for space travel. Obama plans to use the money on other NASA projects such as develop commercial rockets and to rebuild the Orbiting Carbon Observatory.

China Faces Extreme Violent Attacks in Schools

China’s schools will be patrolled by armed forces due to five attacks in just over one month. The most recent attack was by a farmer who struck several kindergarten students with a hammer and then burned himself to death. The motive behind the attack is unknown but it is suspected that with 158 million adults with no professional help for mental health disorders could be the cause. Parents marched outside the Taixing People’s Hospital demanding better government response and proper care for the children. In a country with one child policy and strict controls, this rare extreme violence is shocking.
