Guelph Pride raises its flag and kicks off Pride Week

Community BBQ just one of many Guelph Pride events

Guelph Pride officially kicked things off over the weekend with a community BBQ and flag raising event at Guelph City Hall on Saturday, April 29. According to their website, “Guelph Pride celebrates diversity in safer spaces by providing education, programming and visibility with the LGBTQ2S+ community in Guelph and Wellington County.”

The co-chairs of Guelph Pride, Stevie Forbes-Roberts and Hazel Moore, were joined by many in the Guelph community.

Participating in the raising of the pride flag were Mayor Cam Guthrie, Forbes-Roberts, Moore, and Jamie Clinch (a representative of RBC, which sponsored the event).

A bouncy castle and face painting were among many family-friendly activities.

The event also included booths for entertainment and education.

Dave Vervoort and Duncan Cook’s booth raised money for Guelph Pride and provided informational brochures.
